Dandy Warhols @ The Enmore !!!

A Sunday night gig ... what the hell? AND The Dandy Warhols on their last chance for me. With their last gig being completely garbage in 2008, the were on thin ice. But I must say, they delivered in spades. Courtney seemed to be having fun, Zia was dancing away and the band as a whole seemed to be enjoying themselves. Really fun gig.

Met up with Illy, Wadey, Shane and Theo to see Morbid Angel playing a great set. We started up front but migrated back when the smelly, sweaty savages got a bit out of hand in the mosh pit. Theo's first metal gig, saw him staying outside as "it was too loud". Hehehe, well done buddy, see you next time :-)

Easter Egg Hunt 2011 - Winner is Wadey !!!

This years Egg Hunt was again fiercely competed. The Winners were bronze to Theo, Silver to Chris and the 2011 Winner is Wadey. His 2 arm braces seem to have given him the edge with Polly, Tania and Shane also competing this year.

BB King @ The State Theatre !!!

From the 3rd row we just had the absolute best time ever. BB King was just amazing for a guy in his 80's, full of class, style and he can still play. Polly & I even got a mention. He was talking about his next song, telling the audience to get a little closer to their partners. BB looked at me, and I put my arm around Polly. He then said, "Just like this couple down the front here. How about a round of applause for this gentleman and lady?" Then the State Theatre clapped us :-) Second time I've been given a round of applause by the entire State Theatre in 6 weeks. Nuts. Polly & I both shook his hand at the end of the show, and were just blown away by how good he is.

Just after Henry's 50th Birthday, he decided to go a world tour and give us a bit of a run through of his life. Which was awesome for us as Henry was on form, giving us stories from all parts of his life. So after some Tapas, Polly, Gus, Steph and & I sat in the second row and had a great laugh.

Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music TV appearance
So by now you can see the picture below. Yes, that is Tim and Polly dressed as nun's on Channel 9. Obviously part of our 15 minutes of fame. And yes I am dressed as a Nazi Nun. I also won a Best Costume award for my efforts. So there are the facts. Now the why ...

When I was at uni, I came up with the idea of going to a fancy dress party as a Nazi-nun from Sound of Music. Now, 18 years later I have lived that dream, possibly with a little more fan fare that I thought, but then I didn't really think about what people might think apart from possible horror. So as I found out, there was a great mix of responses from people, "Oh my god that guy is a Nazi Nun", to others saying "That is the best Cross-Cultural outfit ever!" Either way, I did a Fawlty Towers style Nazi Salute (finger over moustache included) to the entire State Theatre from centre stage. Yes, beer was involved.

The first Uni-Boys get together for 2011 was today up at Faulconbridge, somewhere deep in the mountainous banjo-country. Theo, Wadey, Shannon, AB & I had an excess of everything in an afternoon poker session at AB's house. I didn't win a thing after the first 2 hands, and somehow became drinks bitch for most of the day. It's not like the others would know where the kitchen is (and AB lives there). Finally got home on the longest trip home ... 2.5 hours from AB's place to my sofa. Ahhhhhhhh.

My original PS3 has met with a grim end and suffered a Yellow Light of Death. $250 to get it fixed. Can you believe it? I could buy a new one for $400. But as mine is an original, it has backwards compatibility and 4 USB slots. Sending my baby off next week for 3 weeks.

Lat-Dior for Dinner
A little bit of African for a casual Friday night. After asking the waiter for his recommendation on how to enjoy the African cuisine on offer, we got fried lamb pastries, followed by everything else he babbled on about being thrust on the table at once. Not quite what he had in mind, but tasty enough.

We then headed up a few doors to The Green Lounge for some cocktails, before ending up at the Townie until being escorted out at closing. And who doesn't like a pop into Crispy Inn for some bakery treats at 4:30am ????

Went out to the Hills for a good old BBQ and Party at Steve & Kerry's place.

Went for a round of golf at 42 degrees out at Hudson Park with Kosta, Chris and Wadey. Mmmm, my +18 wasn't helped by my disasterous 5 putting the 2nd hole. Never played golf in such heat as Sydney experienced the hottest 7 days in recorded history.

Pendolino's for Dinner

Finally got to have our dinner with Chris & Tania at Pendolino's in the Strand. Such lovely Italian food, but ... and I didn't think I would add a "But" ... the rushed service became very annoying as we add to ask for things over and over, as well as the stagnant menu, made the experience a little disappointing. Luckily the company was brilliant and a few drinks after made for a great Friday night.

Happy Birthday Timmy!
Went to Est. restaurant for lovely dinner. Shellfish consommé with crab was the standout for me and rare Venison the stand out for Polly. Had an amazing 2001 Kracher Trockenbeerenauslese from Austria with Cherry Soufflé for dessert.

I can write this in hindsight .... ahhhhhhhhh. Some kind of tummy bug that rendered me completely useless for 4 days. Eating toast and drinking water for 2 days is not exactly fun, though having Doctor/Nurse Polly makes it bearable. Golf plans were casualties, otherwise days on the sofa or bed.

A night in Spain, or at least eating our versions of Tapas classics, including meatballs, garlic prawns, salted fish croquettes and Polly's dessert.
 
Zac is Harry Potter crazy and Kerry's idea to give him chop sticks as wands was brilliant, to watch a 5 year old casting Expelliamous on him over and over again is hilarious.
 
Birthday Party - Thomas Clarke
We headed out to Dennis' place for a BBQ for his son turning 1. Being 1 of 6 babies required some memory skills for a who's who's. Polly got asked by a 3 year old for help getting him a drink. Polly opened the esky and asked, what do you want? He points at the Mountain Dew. Polly was thinking, "Am I allowed to give a 3 year year old kid Mountain Dew?" So she did, thinking, if his parents can't look after him, he can have what he wants.
